CALIFORNIA UPDATES

Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Monday 13th July that 30 counties in California, including Los Angeles, are now required to close all indoor operations. This includes: gyms, malls, hair salons, barbershops, places of worship and all offices of non-critical sectors. There has been no end date set for these new measures.

City of Los Angeles Emergency Renters Assistance Program

The program will provide a rent subsidy for tenants in LA County that are currently unable to pay rent due to circumstances related to the pandemic. The program will provide a grant of up to $1,000 a month to cover the lease rent, there is a maximum of $2,000 per household. This will be paid directly to the tenant’s landlord.

The eligibility of the program is as follows :

  1. Resident of Los Angeles County
  2. Households who can provide proof of tenancy
  3. Household income at or below 80% Area Median Income
  4. Households that can provide documentation of loss or reduction of income due to COVID-19 after March 13, 2020
